MEMOTONEWS– Exactly on May 2, 2021, Semarang City will be 474 years old. This year's anniversary is very different from the previous ones. The Semarang City Government canceled the celebration in a grand manner due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the spirit of celebrating the anniversary of the city of Semarang is still alive and well. One of them was carried out by the Semarang Local Amateur Radio Organization of the Republic of Indonesia (ORARI) through the artificial satellite IO-86 / LAPAN A2-ORARI satellite.
The local Semarang Amateur Radio Organization (ORARI) coordinates with the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) to broadcast happy birthday Semarang City and hashtag via digipeater APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) satellite IO-86 / satellite LAPAN A2-ORARI.
The LAPAN A2 / ORARI satellite is a microsatellite that was built on the basis of LAPAN's first satellite, Tubsat, which was launched in 2007.
Tubsat was manufactured in Germany while LAPAN A2 was made entirely in Indonesia using consultants from Germany.
The LAPAN A2 / ORARI satellite carries an Automatic Identification System (AIS) to identify ships in Indonesian waters, cameras to record video, and carry cargo for disaster mitigation / disaster management.
The contents are radio communication system for radio amateurs, VR (Voice Repeater) and APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) content.
